On Tuesday February 3rd 2015 fashion designer Jef Montes presented his second collection at the Looiersgracht 60 in Amsterdam. Innovative high-tech materials and expressive shapes came together in a spectacular presentation, where water and light formed an essential part.

Jef Montes drew inspiration from sailboats and the materials they are are constructed from. The collection was realized in collaboration with artists and product designers. Jef abstracted the work of artist Simone Albers to graphic colour patches, which were translated in a woven fabric that was developed at the TextileLab of the Textile Museum in Tilburg. Here he also produced a material that is build from different nylons and cotton tread; when the light catches the material a sail pattern appears. 

The collection was presented in a catwalk show and subsequent exhibition. The catwalk was covered with water, which led to a reflective effect. The spectacular openings look illustrates how Jef combines innovative materials and experimental fabrics. The spectacular moment when the model threw a water-drenched scarf around her shoulders, the upper dress started to melt and a blue dress became visible underneath.
